TACMIN - openpit mine engineering company was formed in July 1996 by Sarel Blaauw. a former director of contract mining company MCC Contracts and a significant role player in the development of one of the largest open pit contract mining companies in South Africa. Our concept was to specialize only in open pit mining engineering and contractor procurement services. This unique focus has allowed us to attract and retain some of the best mining engineering and procurement talent available anywhere. TACMIN' personnel are experienced, highly-motivated industry specialists with track records of significant achievement in the mining engineering and contract mining fields.

TACMIN is different in that we are both "niche" and "broad". "Niche" in the sense that, unlike most traditional engineering companies, we offer only mine engineering and - procurement services no process, mechanical, electrical, civil, etc. "Broad" in the sense that, we apply our mining engineering capabilities over a wide range of disciplines - geology, optimization, design, planning, equipment, materials, manpower and more.

A Philosophy Based on Experience

Our experience has taught us that if the design of the mining process is less than optimal, or downright incorrect, then the Client will be faced with years of effort and expenditures trying to recover from such problems. We believe in getting the process designed right the first time and know that we can do so better than most companies for two main reasons:

1. We specialize in mine engineering only.... no civil, mechanical, process or electrical. Your mine is our focus. It's what we do and all we do.
   
2. We hire only highly-qualified individuals that enjoy mine engineering and have a proven track record of accomplishments. It is a requirement that all of our expertise have significant operations support experience so they understand, first hand, the real world issues that operators, technicians, maintenance personnel, and management face.
